How will car prices be affected after the regulation?
When we look at the new SCT rates that came into force with the presidential decree, we see that there is a decrease in the tax rates of vehicles with 1.6 and below engine displacement compared to their prices. In addition, the following information is shared in the published article:
By the decision of the President dated 12/1/2022 and numbered 5096, 87.03 GTİ.P. For some goods under the “-Others” line, different base groups and rates for these base groups have been established and the special consumption tax bases based on the special consumption tax rates have been determined as follows.
With this new picture that has emerged, 45 percent for vehicles under 120 thousand TL, 50 percent for vehicles between 120 thousand and 150 thousand TL, 60 percent for vehicles between 150 and 170 thousand TL, 70 percent for vehicles between 175 and 200 thousand, and the last As a result, 80 percent SCT tax will be applied for cars over 200 thousand TL.
However, a car with a price of over 300 thousand TL, which is in the 80 percent SCT segment, will now enter the 60 percent segment. Therefore, a reduction of approximately 40 thousand TL in the price can be expected. When the limit of 400 thousand TL is exceeded, the SCT amount of the vehicle in the 80 percent segment will be 70 percent. Therefore, the discount rate will be lower.
What were the SCT base rates before the regulation?
Vehicles with an engine capacity of 1.6 and below were charged 45 percent for vehicles up to 92 thousand TL, 50 percent for vehicles between 92 thousand and 150 thousand TL, and 80 percent for vehicles over 150 thousand TL. With the incoming regulation, it is expected that the car prices in this section will decrease.
However, there was no change in the ones with a displacement between 1.6 and 2.0. 130% SCT is collected from those with 170 thousand TL or more, 150 percent from those with 170 thousand TL or more. On the other hand, 220 percent SCT is collected from cars with 2.0 and above engine displacement.
