New generation storms the control bodies

The governing bodies of the 40 largest listed companies are changing more than ever before.

Dusseldorf She is highly educated, bears operational responsibility and has an international background: Sopna Sury is one of 30 new supervisory board members in the DAX companies. The 48-year-old, who comes from India, has been an inspector at the building materials manufacturer Heidelberg Cement since May.

There Sury, who heads the hydrogen division of RWE Generation in her main job, contributes her expertise in energy technology. Cement manufacturers are among the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases and will have to significantly reduce emissions in the coming years.

Sury is part of a new generation of board members taking on the boards of the 40 largest publicly traded companies and transforming them like never before.

They stand for internationality, expertise in top topics such as technology or sustainability, dynamism and independence. Sury’s term of office is initially limited to two years and it is her first mandate.
