Eat Just a few days after the end of the insolvency proceedings, the new head of Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof is already announcing the next ambitious new start. Already in the current year he wants to ensure sales growth again. “We will break the downward trend and increase like-for-like sales again this year,” announced Olivier van den Bossche in an interview with the Handelsblatt.

After many years of losses, he plans to make a small profit for the coming year. “In the next financial year, I would like to see a black zero in the operational business, i.e. in terms of Ebitda,” says van den Bossche. “But there is still a lot to do for that.”

At the same time, the Galeria boss gives hope that one or the other house could be removed from the list of closures. “As things stand at present, we want to continue to run 87 houses,” he said, but added: “Talks are still being held with landlords, so one or two houses could be added.”
