After iOS 16 was released, some iPhone users started to share that they could no longer run streaming apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime via the TV via HDMI adapter. Finally, thanks to the sharing of a Reddit user, the reason for this became clear.
Contacting the Netflix Support team, the Reddit user learned that it is no longer possible to watch content from the TV by establishing an HDMI connection on a phone running iOS 16, and that there will be no change in this situation in the future.

I just talked about HDMI not working after iOS 16 with Netflix support. They said they’ve made the decision to no longer support HDMI. For those of us who live far away, or even just 12 miles outside of town but don’t have internet, this has been my way of watching content.
This has been true for not just Netflix but all other streaming platforms like Amazon Prime and HBO Max. But this is not new, as soon as iOS 16 comes out, it has been announced that users will no longer be able to upload content to the TV with the HDMI support of streaming platforms. This situation has emerged with the spread and use of iOS 16.
Apple has not made a statement on the matter. However, the Netflix Support team also said the following on the subject:
If you try to AirPlay a movie or TV show from one of the streaming services on Apple TV 2 or Apple TV 3, you will be presented with a vague error message: “There was an error loading this content. Try again later.” Tested with an iOS 15.7 device, AirPlay continues to work with Apple TV 2 and Apple TV 3, even with DRM-restricted content.
