While BASF CEO Martin Brudermüller issued drastic warnings about a boycott of Russian gas supplies, the US company Dow Chemical took action and participated in the construction of a liquid gas terminal in Stade.
The contrast sheds light on what is probably the most delicate challenge currently facing the German chemical industry and its industry leader: What can one still do on one’s own to cushion a short-term failure of Russian gas supplies, and is there really enough happening in this regard already?
