Murder in Texas (USA): FedEx driver kidnaps and kills Athena (7) | News

A mother’s worst nightmare has come true for Maitlyn Gandy, 26…

Their little Athena, 7, was abducted from her childhood bedroom and killed by a FedEx courier on Wednesday. The girl was living with her father in Paradise, Texas, when Tanner Horner (31) was at her door with a package.

The FedEx driver took the girl into his power. According to police, Athena was dead less than an hour later.

But for the little one’s family, days of cruel uncertainty dawned. Athena’s stepmother reported the girl missing on Wednesday. Countless neighbors of the 522-inhabitant town combed the area while the police investigated.

The trail led quickly to Tanner Horner. “We knew from the beginning of the investigation that a FedEx driver had made a delivery in front of the house shortly before Athena’s disappearance.” The 31-year-old was interrogated and confessed everything. On Friday, he showed investigators where he had buried her body. A court ordered him bail at $1.5 million.

“My feelings are a wreck and I’ve been trying to pull myself together. (…) The fight is far from over. I just want my kids and I know I’ll never be whole again,” Gandy wrote on Facebook after the death of her Athena.
