This disease does not paralyze her at all.
For actress Christina Applegate (50) now shines a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With a cane and barefoot, the star received the greatest honor in Hollywood. This performance was probably the bravest of her life!
The ‘Awfully Nice Family’ star suffers from Multiple sclerosis (MS), an insidious autoimmune disease that, depending on the course, causes severe mobility problems.
Applegate was diagnosed in 2021 and has had to adjust to her new life quickly — despite being amidst filming of her Netflix series ‘ Dead To Me! She was wheeled to the set and gained 40 pounds.
That’s why this star is so deserved! With “FU MS” – meaning “F*ck you, MS” on her fingernails, the actress accepted the highest honor in the city of Los Angeles.
And they were ALL there!
Goose bumps and tears! Not only Christina cried in the first row, but also her husband Martyn LeNoble (53). In front of the star, she was supported by Mama Bundy (Katey Sagal, 68). Bud Bundy actor David Faustino (48) also came and squeezed her.
What a gesture from everyone present!
Applegate, who can’t stand long, came barefoot, sat cross-legged in front of her star, touched it, flashed her f*ck-you fingernails and just beamed the illness away.
Christina Applegate is now learning to live with the disease. In a post on Twitter, she showed off her new amazing canes, then settled on the one with the spiral pattern.
Wet eyes as she spoke at the podium about friends and family who always stood by her through the illness.
“This day means more to me than you can imagine,” she began at the podium. “I’m not saying I have friends, I have family. These people take care of me every day of my life and I don’t know what I would do without them.”
“But the most important person in this world” is her daughter Sadie Grace (11). “You are so much more than you know,” the famous actress told her daughter.
“You are so beautiful and kind and loving and smart and interesting and I am blessed every day when I wake up and get to take you to school. You’re my Everything.”
To everyone else: “Thank you for standing with me through all of this.” No! Thank you for being so brave, Christina!
Applegate really wanted to continue shooting
The actress just kept shooting “Dead to me” despite her illness, doesn’t want to accept her fate, doesn’t want to give the illness more space, understandable!
“I had an obligation. Those in charge said, ‘Let’s just stop. We don’t have to finish it. Let’s put together some episodes with footage already recorded,'” Applegate told the New York Times. “I said no. We will do it, but on my terms.’”
Applegate also shared that when she returned, she needed a wheelchair to get to the set due to her limited mobility. A sound engineer had to hold her legs up to make certain recordings.
Shots of her entering a room were impossible. She needed help. When standing, she leaned against doors to stay upright.
Incidentally, there were also first signs of her illness in the “Dead to Me” set. The Los Angeles-born beauty was filming a dance scene and lost her balance in the first season.
“I wish I’d been more careful. But who could have known?” Applegate said.
plays in the series Applegate’s snarky widow Jen Harding, who meets the spirited Judy Hale (played by Cardellini) at a grief group after losing her husband in a hit-and-run accident.
Their unlikely friendship is eventually complicated by secrets, lies, and an accidental murder that binds them for life.
The first season of Dead To Me premiered on the streaming platform in May 2019 with 10 episodes. The half-hour dark comedy returned in May 2020 for its second season, also with 10 episodes.
It will probably be Applegate’s last acting job. She’s already thinking about retiring…
