More than two out of five PCR tests are apparently positive – health authorities feel overwhelmed with the control of compulsory vaccination

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), up to and including Monday, the last day of the month, 75.8 percent of people in Germany had received at least one vaccination against the corona virus. The goal of the federal government to vaccinate 80 percent of the population at least once against Corona by the end of January has thus finally been missed. Government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit had already admitted this on Monday. The government originally wanted to reach this quota by January 7th.

The pace of vaccination continued to slow. According to the RKI, around 200,000 injections were administered on Monday. On the Monday before there were still around 348,000, two weeks earlier, on January 17, even almost 473,000. Most of the injections administered on Monday were reportedly booster shots (around 143,000). There were also 39,000 second vaccinations and 18,000 first vaccinations.

According to the RKI, 61.6 million people (74 percent) have complete basic protection with the second syringe that is usually necessary. At least 44.1 million people (53 percent) also received a booster shot. According to the information, 63 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The RKI has been pointing out for a long time that that the figures shown are to be understood as minimum vaccination rates. A hundred percent coverage by the reporting system cannot be achieved. The RKI assumes that the actual vaccination rate is up to five percentage points higher than indicated on the dashboard.
