More and more customers have to wait for their car

Dusseldorf Car buyers currently need a lot of patience. Due to the lack of chips worldwide, millions of new cars can only be built with a delay. This also applies to the Volkswagen brand. Sales Director Klaus Zellmer states the current order backlog of around 750,000 vehicles worldwide. “That’s twice as much as normal,” he says in an interview with the Handelsblatt.

The scarce supply of new cars has led to sharp price increases almost everywhere. Therefore, most manufacturers can cope financially with the loss of production. “Nevertheless, I would of course have wished for even higher quantities, also in the interests of our customers,” says Zellmer.
