Fastboot is a powerful tool that allows users to do many things, especially software updates and recovery methods. Therefore, Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO smartphone owners should know what Fastboot ROM is.

If your device does not receive updates, stays on an old version or is stuck in bootloop and does not boot, you should install a Fastboot ROM to fix it. You can actually think of it as an advanced recovery method.

Of course, if you choose a random Android or MIUI version and install it directly, you may experience major stabilization problems. Therefore, you need to download the Fastboot ROM suitable for your device. For this, you can download MIUI Downloader from the Play Store by clicking here.

ROM download

  • Open MIUI Downloader app.
  • Choose your device.
  • Then select the version and click the Old Versions button.
  • Click on one of the Fastboot options that appear here to download it.
  • Move the file ending with “.tgz” that the device saves in its own memory to your computer and extract it.
  • From this point you are ready for installation.
  • You need to open ADB/Fastboot on your computer to continue the installation.

Installing ADB/Fastboot drivers on PC

  • Click here to download updated ADB drivers.
  • Unzip the .zip file you downloaded.
  • Run the file named “15 Second ADB Installer.exe”.
  • In the window that opens, click the “Y” (without “) key in 3 different questions that can be answered as Y/N, and then press the enter key.
  • After this point, proceed through the normal application installation windows through the Install and Finish steps.
  • After the installation is complete, type cmd or Command Prompt in the Search field in the Start menu and open the application.
  • In the meantime, enable debugging by connecting your phone to the PC with a USB cable.
  • in Command Prompt adb shell type and press enter.
  • Confirm the USB access permission to your phone.
  • Now you can control your phone via adb.

Next step: Mi Flash Tool

  • Click here to download the current Mi Flash Tool version.
  • Go to fast boot mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power button.
  • Connect your phone to PC while in fastboot mode.
  • Open Mi Flash Tool app.
  • Select the “Select” button.
  • Select your downloaded Fastbook ROM folder and press the “OK” button.
  • Click on “Clear All” to install from scratch.
  • If you want to update the system and protect the data, click the “Save user data” button.
  • Select and start the flash process. After 5-10 minutes of installation, the device will reboot.

Don’t forget to Remove Your Accounts!

  • Go to Settings.
  • Click on Password and Security.
  • Remove security measures such as screen lock, fingerprint and facial recognition.
  • Sign in to your Mi Account.
  • Remove the account open on the device.
  • Finally, remove your Google account.
