Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat announced that there will be regulations on motorcycles, which have recently managed to surpass automobiles in sales and reached historical sales figures.
Recently, motorcycles have attracted great attention from citizens. Motorcycle Industry Association (MOTED), using TÜİK data, revealed the motorcycle sales figures in the first 10 months of the year. Motorcycle sales in the first 10 months 813 thousand 520 and it managed to surpass the automobile sales of 749 thousand 501 units in the same period.
In his statement to Hürriyet, Minister of Commerce Ömer Bolat stated that the inspections previously carried out in both the food sector and the automotive market had yielded results, and that the practices created a ‘breakthrough’ effect in the market. Minister Bolat said, “The automotive market is very largely regulated. A brand new car, which could not be found in 6 months, was delivered in 6 hours. We will continue our practices.” he said.
Minister Bolat may intervene in the motorcycle market
Before President of Istanbul Motor Vehicle Dealers Association (İMAS) Hayrettin Er Temel had announced that they would send an information note to the Ministry of Commerce regarding motorcycle advertisements that attempted to be sold above the list price. Regarding the issue, Minister Bolat said, “Motorcycle is also an automotive industry vehicle. We are working on that issue as well. There are currently intense inspections and punitive practices. Our friends are working with industry representatives on a regulation for motorcycles. “We will ensure price decreases and order there too.” He made a statement.

Bolat, “Our exporters want a more competitive exchange rate, but when the exchange rate increases, not to raise prices When we asked “Are you committed?” none of them could say “yes”. When the exchange rate increases, the general price level rises and the advantage of the exchange rate increase disappears in a very short time. “The important thing is to increase exports in an environment where price stability is ensured.” he said.
