Microsoft is also launching the DIY Repair program! -SDN

Big technology companies are now encouraging their customers to repair their devices themselves, as well as technical service and repair centers. In this direction, right after Samsung and Apple, Microsoft is also launching the DIY Repair program.

Which is cheaper? Apple Authorized Services vs Do It Yourself!

Is the Repair Yourself program launched by Apple today much cheaper than authorized services, as it is called?

Microsoft is also launching the DIY Repair program!

Microsoft is most prominent with its software such as the Windows operating system. But the company has been producing many devices from smartphones to tablets for a long time. In fact, 2-in-1 tablet computers are widely used in the USA and Europe. Recently, it has been developing folding phone and tablet models.

Therefore, just like Apple and Samsung, there are many authorized services. In the first quarter of this year, technology companies generally started to allow customers to make repairs in their homes.

First, we saw Samsung take this step. Right after, Apple introduced the repair kit and the hardware parts that are suitable for replacement, along with their prices. Now, Microsoft has announced that it will be included in the DIY Repair program.

Microsoft says that enabling product owners to repair their own devices at home will have a huge impact on the environment in terms of waste and emissions. In addition, the costs for these people will be greatly reduced.

According to a study by a UK-based company called Oakdene Hollins, making a product easily repairable at home instead of replacing it with a new one will provide an incredible benefit to the environment. It is even claimed that there will be a 92 percent reduction in potential waste and greenhouse gas emissions alone.

Of course, not all parts of the device can be repaired or replaced by people. Because there are some special employees who are trained for this job in authorized services. Therefore, the most sustainable type of repair will continue to be authorized services.

However, since most parts of today’s smartphones allow simple disassembly and reassembly like Lego, we will be able to repair our own devices to a large extent. Likewise, Microsoft’s Xbox game consoles are said to be included in this plan. In other words, we will be able to intervene ourselves by getting support in any problem we experience.
