Microsoft finally solves the Windows update problem

As most Windows users know, Windows updates are one of the most annoying features of the operating system. Windows update packages are necessary, of course, but they often arrive at the worst possible time, forcing a reboot. It looks like Microsoft will fix this problem in the upcoming Windows 11 24H2 configuration.

How will Microsoft solve the Windows update problem?

As it was last revealed in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26058, Microsoft is testing a new system called Hot Patch for the Windows 11 update. Hot Patch will be a dynamic update method that generally does not change the software version or even require a reboot. Windows will install the update in the background and you will not need to reboot your system.

Microsoft is no stranger to the Hot Patch method. This method was previously used on Windows update servers and Xbox consoles. Of course, this does not mean that this method can be applied to the entire consumer base of Windows 11.

According to Windows Central’s Zac Bowden, Hot Patch will only be available in monthly security updates that Microsoft squeezes in. This will eliminate the need for command reboots most of the time, but reboots will be available in January, April, July and October, according to Bowden.

We all reboot our computers on a daily basis, but a forced reboot due to a Windows update is still very annoying.

Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence model is coming to Android phones. The company thinks artificial intelligence will explode in sales.

The release of the Hot Patch feature is still far away as it is planned to be shipped with other new features in Windows 11 24H2. There will be a new hardware requirement that was not present in previous configurations. More importantly, it’s still unclear whether the Hot Patch will make it to consumer versions.
