Blockchain-focused alternative investment firm ParaFi Capital spearheaded the large-scale funding round. It was stated that the technology giant Microsoft and the Vision Fund belonging to SoftBank are on the investor list.

Known as the developer of MetaMask, one of the world’s largest Web3 wallets, ConsenSys has doubled its $3.2 billion valuation after an investment of $200 million in November. The presence of bank giant HSBC and English hedge fund Marschall Wace in the financing round in November drew attention.

The company announced that it aims to increase the number of employees to 1,000 by the end of the year.

MetaMask, one of the company’s core products, completely renewed its design earlier this year and recently reached 30 million monthly active users. After the final capital injection, ConsenSys will again focus on scaling its developer platform, Infura.

Joseph Lubin, one of the founders of Ethereum Blockchain and also CEO of ConsenSys, said in a statement that his company has “broad and deep” capabilities.

However, ConsenSys chief strategy officer Simon Morris said in a statement on the subject:

“In the current situation, we think we are driving these developments rather than competing with developments in our field.”
