Dusseldorf The Fresenius healthcare group is getting a new CEO: Michael Sen will head the company from October, succeeding the previous boss Stephan Sturm, who will leave the company. Fresenius announced this in an ad hoc announcement on Friday after the stock market closed.

According to the company, Sen has been on the Fresenius Management Board since 2021 and has so far been responsible for the Fresenius Kabi medical division. The 53-year-old should initially continue this on an interim basis.

The manager was previously part of the Siemens board, where he was responsible for the medical technology subsidiary Siemens Healthineers, which is now listed as a separate company on the stock exchange. Between 2015 and 2017, Sen was also Eon’s chief financial officer.

59-year-old Sturm has been a member of the Fresenius Management Board since the beginning of 2005 and has been CEO since July 2016. His contract would have run until 2026. Fresenius had to lower its annual targets because of problems at its dialysis subsidiary FMC.
