Merkel advisor Röller on the new world order

Berlin For ten years, Lars-Hendrik Röller was the top economic adviser to former Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU). He helped shape Germany’s economic and energy policies, which are now being criticized for being heavily dependent on Russia.

In the first major interview after leaving office, the economist justifies the decisions of the previous federal governments: “There was a domestic political consensus in which everyone was involved: climate neutrality by 2045, out of nuclear and out of coal – then only gas will remain , at least as long as renewable energies are not available accordingly.”
