UK Treasury Officials Meet With Cryptocurrency Giants Like Binance and Circle

Meanwhile, former Treasury Chancellor Rishi Sunak, now vying to become Conservative Party leader, met with Sequoia managing partner Douglas Leone to “discuss the UK’s Venture Capital sector”.
Earlier statements show that Sunak visited California late last year, meeting with representatives from Sequoia and a16z, and attending roundtables with companies like Bitwise, Celo, Solana, and Iqoniq.
If Altar wins the leadership race, he will become the UK’s next prime minister.
The meetings took place before the Treasury announced plans to issue stablecoins in April and issue its own NFT through the Royal Mint. The policy announcement in question was part of the goal of positioning the UK as a crypto-friendly tech hub.
