Rome, Frankfurt Lufthansa is not involved in the privatization of the Italian state airline ITA Airways. The Italian finance ministry announced on Wednesday that the government wants to hold exclusive negotiations for a majority stake with the other bidder, the US financial investor Certares. Air France-KLM and the US airline Delta Air Lines are behind Certares.
Lufthansa had teamed up with the Swiss shipping company MSC to take over ITA, which would have bought the lion’s share. Both prospective buyers recently improved their bids.
