Description of the Turkish Esports Federation:
“Our federation was established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in order to develop our country’s esports brand in the national and international arena in order to work for the growth of Turkish esports and is exclusively authorized in all areas related to esports activity. Our Federation held its 1st Ordinary General Assembly on 29 April 2023 in line with the Law on Sports Clubs and Sports Federations and gained its legal personality.
With the vision of making Turkey the number one esports country and creating a globally accepted Turkish esports school, we have signed many collaborations that will contribute to esports. However, despite all our cooperation efforts at this point, the authorities granted to our Federation were ignored and an unofficial “eNational Team” was established by the Turkish Football Federation and started to be carried out by the TFF.
On the other hand, the organization called eSüper Lig, again by the Turkish Football Federation, has been implemented illegally without our knowledge. The Turkish Football Federation is mistaken about the difference between classical football and sports games, which are a sub-branch of esports. As all the public knows, esports is considered an exclusive sport all over the world, completely separate from football or any other sport, and it is within the duty and authority of the Turkish Esports Federation, not the Turkish Football Federation.
A lawsuit was filed against TFF!
“With the implementation of the aforementioned practices, the authorities granted to our Federation in the Main Statute of the Turkish Esports Federation, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 18 November 2022 and entered into force, have been publicly usurped. All our requests for cooperation that will contribute to the development of Turkish esports have been conveyed to the Turkish Football Federation. Even though our request was rejected, our Federation, which was authorized exclusively in the field of esports, was wanted to be excluded from the process. legal proceedings have been initiated. We inform the public that we will be a follower of the process.”
The Turkish Football Federation has not yet shared a statement regarding what the Turkish Esports Federation has shared.
