In its statement, the US official also announced that the State Department will “impose visa restrictions on 635 Russian citizens who are involved in suppressing opposition in Russia and abroad, engage in activities that threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and are involved in human rights violations in Ukraine.”

In addition, he announced that three Russian officials in the Russian-controlled Donbas region were added to the sanctions list “for their involvement in major human rights violations, and 17 for undermining democracy in Belarus.”

Russia, with the invasion it started in Ukraine, is being subjected to intense sanctions, especially by the USA, the European Union and Japan.
