The United States announced today that it has moved to the next stage in the sanctions it has imposed after Russia’s war against Ukraine.
In a press release issued by the US Treasury Department, the cryptocurrency announced that it will target the mining industry as well.
In addition, the United States reported that a critical commercial bank and more than 40 individuals and institutions around Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeyev were also placed on the sanctions list.

In the press release, the Treasury Department also stated that “companies operating in Russia’s cryptocurrency mining industry” will be targeted, making Russia the third largest country in the world in this area.

In its statement, the US official also announced that the State Department will “impose visa restrictions on 635 Russian citizens who are involved in suppressing opposition in Russia and abroad, engage in activities that threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and are involved in human rights violations in Ukraine.”
In addition, he announced that three Russian officials in the Russian-controlled Donbas region were added to the sanctions list “for their involvement in major human rights violations, and 17 for undermining democracy in Belarus.”
Russia, with the invasion it started in Ukraine, is being subjected to intense sanctions, especially by the USA, the European Union and Japan.
