There are scenes that give you goose bumps.
A new trailer for one of the most spectacular films of the year was released on Thursday: In the eagerly anticipated biopic “Spencer” (German release date: November 5), “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart (31) embodies Princess Diana († 36) in one probably the most tragic phases of her life – when she decides to part with Prince Charles (now 72).
The trailer provides a foretaste of the highly emotional drama that is already being celebrated by critics and film fans alike.
The video begins with the icy voice of the Queen, who asks impatiently: “Isn’t she here yet?” “Not yet, no,” replies a servant. “Then she’s too late,” says Queen Elizabeth II (Stella Gonet, 61) sternly.
What is meant is Diana, who is sketched as an outsider, as someone who neither can nor wants to adapt. “You (the members of the royal family, editor’s note) cannot change. You have to change, ”it says there, for example.
And Prince Charles, played by Jack Farthing (35), even demands: “You have to be able to do things that you hate. There must be two Dianas, the right one and then the one they are taking pictures of. For the good of the country. “
These are pictures that give an idea of the desperate situation the young woman was in at the time. And they show how Diana takes all her courage to free herself from the rigid rules of the palace.
When a servant advises her: “Stand very still and smile a lot – they know everything about you,” Diana replies mysteriously: “They don’t.”
At the end of the trailer Diana asks: “Do you think they will kill me?” It is not known whether the princess was actually afraid for her life and believed that the royal family could have her killed.
The film is only an idea of what could have happened in those fateful days, writes the US production company Neon about the trailer. Whether possible reality or dramatic exaggeration – the viewer has to decide for himself.
This is what “Spencer” is about
In Spencer, Kristen Stewart plays Princess Diana, who spends three days with the royal family during a grueling Christmas vacation at the Sandringham estate. For Diana, it’s the moment she decides to divorce Prince Charles.
In the film, Diana is shown on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The Princess of Wales keeps throwing up while struggling with bulimia. She talks about scratching herself and in one scene asks her cloakroom to give her privacy so she can masturbate.
In addition to these scenes, Diana is mainly portrayed as a loving mother: she brings her sons Christmas presents, worries that they are too cold at night because there is no heating on the property, and sneaks out of bed with them to play a game play, and even takes them to the drive-through of a KFC.
