Kraken Announces Identity of FTX Hacker!

Kraken cryptocurrency exchange CSO Nick Percoco tweeted in response to Mario Nawfal that a few hours ago the Kraken team now knows the identity of the user who hacked FTX.

Mario Nawfal, founder and CEO of IBCgroup.io, tweeted that “the hacker is most likely an inexperienced insider.”

Well-established Youtuber and crypto/NFT advocate Satoshi Stacker also drew attention to the situation, explaining that “FTX Hacker is funding TRX wallet from Kraken.”

The inexperienced hacker, who used the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange to dispose of assets stolen from FTX, may have been exposed thanks to simple “Know Your Customer (KYC)” measures.

Dyma Budorin, CEO and co-founder of Hacken.io, praised just.money founder Tobias Silver for his deep dive into FTX Tron accounts.

Kraken will now likely work with law enforcement to track down the person identified.

More than $600 million was withdrawn from FTX’s crypto wallets late Friday. Shortly after, FTX instructed users not to install any new updates and to delete all FTX apps, stating that it had been compromised on its official Telegram channel.

FTX General Counsel Ryne Miller said in his message on the subject:

“FTX has been hacked. FTX apps are malware. Delete them all.”

Hours later, Miller announced in a tweet that FTX US and FTX.com had moved all their digital assets to cold wallets due to Friday’s bankruptcy. “The process was accelerated this evening to mitigate damage upon observation of unauthorized transactions,” he said.
