It turns out that drinking coffee can prevent Parkinson’s disease!

Nutrition and beverage choices have a huge impact on our health. A new study found a link between coffee consumption and Parkinson’s disease. This study, conducted on 184,024 people for 13 years, revealed that coffee drinkers had a lower risk of developing Parkinson’s disease than non-coffee drinkers.

In a study conducted by an international research team, analyzes on hundreds of people with Parkinson’s disease showed that levels of paraxanthine and theophylline, the main metabolites of caffeine, had a reducing effect on the risk of Parkinson’s.

Researchers, “This study showed an inverse association between caffeinated coffee consumption and risk of Parkinson’s disease in one of the largest longitudinal cohorts followed over 20 years.” he explained.

Previous research has also found a link between coffee and Parkinson’s, but this study goes further by focusing on biomarkers of caffeine intake.

People in the top 25 percent of coffee drinkers are 40 percent less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease than those who don’t drink coffee at all. Overall, the risk reduction among coffee drinkers varies between 5 and 63 percent depending on the country.

Scientists have put forward an extraordinary theory that claims that consciousness comes before we are born and makes life possible.

Although this relationship persists even when factors such as smoking and alcohol consumption are taken into account, it is not enough to prove a direct cause-effect relationship. However, caffeine and its components appear to have a protective effect on the brain.

Based on previous research, it’s thought that the way caffeine maintains dopamine flow in the brain may be responsible for these effects. Parkinson’s disease is known for the decrease in dopamine in the brain due to the loss of nerve cells in the area called substantia nigra.

In their research paper, the researchers wrote, “These neuroprotective effects are consistent with our findings revealing an inverse relationship between caffeine, paraxanthine, and theophylline and the incidence of Parkinson’s disease.” they state.

Considering caffeine’s effect on neurons, it is not surprising that there is an association with neurodegenerative diseases. However, it is difficult to fully understand this relationship because we still do not have precise information about how Parkinson’s begins in the brain.

Important studies are ongoing to determine the triggers of Parkinson’s disease, the factors that affect our risk of the disease, and how it can be stopped. In the United States alone, nearly one million people live with Parkinson’s disease, which causes tremors, problems with normal movement, balance and limb stiffness.
