Insomniac Games confirmed that their upcoming games Marvel’s Wolverine and the market-breaking Spider-Man 2 will take place in the same universe. The statement was made by Spider-Man 2 senior creative director Bryan Intihar in an interview with Kinda Funny Games.
Both Wolverine and the two Spider-Men (Peter and Miles) will coexist in the 1048 universe
Marvel is known for exploring a variety of multiverses, each different from the others. For example, Universe 616 covers the primary comic book series, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe is contained in Universe 199999.
Regarding the lack of Wolverine easter eggs in the Spider-Man games, Intihar explained that this decision was made to allow the team to focus solely on perfecting the gameplay of Spider-Man 2. He emphasized that the team working on Wolverine needed to be given space to fully realize their vision for the character.

Intihar’s sentiments echo those he previously expressed in an interview with IGN, emphasizing the studio’s commitment to providing the best possible gameplay for Wolverine. Confirming their excitement for the project and their commitment to giving the development team the necessary creative freedom, Intihar also confirmed that, as we said, Wolverine will be in the same universe as Spider-Man.
As of right now, details about Marvel’s Wolverine are still largely unknown, other than it being exclusive to the PlayStation 5 platform. Fans of both characters are undoubtedly eager to witness how these iconic heroes will come together in the shared universe prepared by Insomniac Games.
