“Insufficient balance” warning will no longer bother you!

According to the news of CNN Turk, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council has made a new arrangement in the public transportation system of megacity Istanbul. Thanks to the new regulation that will make life easier for millions of users who use Istanbul’s public transportation network every day, the “insufficient balance” warning will no longer be annoying.

According to the decision taken by the city council, Istanbulkart holders were given the right of transportation up to 15 TL in case of insufficient balance. In this way, even if there is not enough balance on your card for public transportation, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality will allow your card to fall into a negative balance for your use up to 15 TL. After 15 TL, you will have to reload your card.

Thanks to the decision taken at the 3rd general municipal council meeting in June, it is aimed to help nearly 7 thousand users. Accordingly, 6,500 people who want to use public transportation in Istanbul every day receive an “insufficient balance” warning. While 62.40 percent of Istanbulkart owners who received this warning top up their balance on the same day, 13.68 percent top up in the coming days. If the remaining 24 percent have Istanbulkart, they do not top up the balance.
