Theologian Prof. Dr. Hayri Kirbasoglu: There is no virtual pilgrimage because you have to live the pilgrimage conditions exactly. Human contact is essential. By living with real individuals in the real world, you are fulfilling your pilgrimage. The virtual world can bring people together, but you will not have fulfilled your pilgrimage. This application satisfies the emotions, it can be exciting. Therefore, those who cannot go on pilgrimage can take advantage of this opportunity to satisfy their spiritual feelings.
Assoc. Dr. Emre Dorman: Hajj is one of the most fundamental and universal worships of Islam. As emphasized in the verse, it is a place of trust, gathering and worship for people. Therefore, in order for this spirit to be captured and for the worship to be performed properly, people who can afford it must visit it in person and witness the proofs of Allah. Providing virtual tour opportunities for those who cannot afford to visit the Kaaba would be a very good and appropriate practice. Since pilgrimage is not made an obligation for people who cannot afford to perform it in real terms, it would be a good development for people to visit there, at least even in a virtual environment. However, this beautiful practice will not ensure that the pilgrimage is fulfilled. Allah knows the truth.”
