iPhone users will be able to change the default map application to Google Maps
For iPhone users who have not been able to get used to Apple Maps until now, there was no way to replace iOS’s default Apple Maps application with an alternative application. Until now.
Apple will finally introduce an option where some iOS users can change the default maps app from Apple Maps to another app they prefer, like Google Maps or Waze.
Last week Apple reported that the company’s preparations to comply with the EU’s new Digital Markets Act (DMA) are in full swing and it looks like it will indeed give up trying to become a monopoly.
Apple plans to introduce a new default setting in Settings for users. Efforts are being made to implement this by March 2025.
