iOS 17 will introduce AI support for Live Speech and Personal Voice
As part of a preview of the iOS 17 accessibility updates coming this year, Apple has announced a pair of new features called Live Speech and Personal Audio. Live Talk will allow users to type what they want to say and say it aloud.
Personal Voice, on the other hand, is defined as technology that allows people who are at risk of losing their speaking ability to create and record a voice similar to themselves. Apple says it’s designed for people who are at risk of losing their speech skills, such as people who have been recently diagnosed with ALS.

Explaining about its new features, the company said, “With Live Talk on iPhone, iPad and Mac, users can type what they want to say to be said aloud during phone and FaceTime calls, as well as face-to-face calls. Users can also record commonly used phrases to quickly jump in during live chats with family, friends, and coworkers. Live Talk is designed to support millions of people around the world who cannot speak or have lost their speech over time. This includes people who have recently been diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), a disease that progressively affects the ability to speak over time.” made statements.
Using Personal Voice, users will be asked to read along with a random series of text prompts to record 15 minutes of audio on iPhone or iPad. Then, using artificial intelligence technology, the iPhone or iPad will create a sound similar to the user’s voice.
Stating that the Personal Voice feature can be integrated with Live Talk, the company announced that users can use it during FaceTime calls and face-to-face conversations. Some analysts underlined that these technologies can also be used for fraud.
