Intel processor dominance has continued in the computer world since the mid-2000s. Although AMD came to the point of bankruptcy for a while, it started to recover after 2012. Intel took advantage of the crisis experienced after AMD acquired ATI and dominated the processor market. AMD, on the other hand, could not make a comeback to the computer world until the Zen processor family arrived. Despite AMD’s efforts to strengthen itself in the market in recent years, Intel seems to have closed 2023 significantly ahead.
According to Canalys’ report, in 2023, Intel shipped 50 million processors, AMD shipped 8 million processors, and Apple shipped 6 million processors. In this sense, Intel ranks first with a 78 percent share in the market. Against this difficult to compete market share, AMD processors have a 13 percent market share. Even though Apple is in its own ecosystem, it ranks third with 8 percent market share.
Intel processor shipments grew by 3 percent in 2023, and AMD processor shipments grew by 1 percent. Apple closed the year with a 4 percent decrease in processor shipments. The computer companies that use Intel the most are Lenovo, Dell and HP. Accordingly, three companies used more than 70 percent of Intel processor shipments. Lenovo has a 25 percent share in this market, HP has a 23 percent share, and Dell has a 19 percent share.

Lenovo produced about 40 percent of computers with AMD processors. HP is third with a 23 percent share, and Asus is third with a 14 percent share. Despite all this positive outlook, Intel completed the year with a 133 percent decrease in earnings per share and a 36 percent decrease in revenue. This is Intel’s biggest financial loss ever. Intel shipment revenues increased by 2 percent compared to last year and reached 40 billion dollars. On the shipment revenue side, AMD recorded 6 percent growth with $8 billion in revenue.
