Along with the Android 14 developer preview, we also see the new logo of the operating system. The operating system’s new logo refers to NASA’s space missions. On the other hand, Google will focus on optimization to minimize battery consumption on Android 14.

The new OS version is designed with tablets and foldable devices in mind. Google has announced that Android 14 builds on work done in Android 12L and Android 13 to support tablets and foldable form factors. This means we can expect even more optimizations for big screen devices in Android 14.

Another issue that Google prioritizes in the new operating system will be security. Android 14 will prevent the installation of applications developed for very old versions in the new generation. In other words, Android 14 will not allow you to install the app with a targetSdkVersion lower than level 23 corresponding to Android 6.

Google is also introducing new system-level security enhancements, including runtime receivers and read-only dynamic code loading to prevent any possibility of malware embedding. Credential Manager and Password support will also be standard for easier authentication and password management.

Additionally, users will be able to scale system fonts up to 200 percent on Android 14, and the operating system will also be able to apply custom scaling for smaller submenu text items. Android 14 will also introduce new customization options.
