“I expect a second leg between Biden and Trump”

Frankfurt Even as a number of candidates for the US presidential election are positioning themselves, Eric Cantor is clear on the matter. “I expect a second leg between Biden and Trump,” said the deputy head of the New York investment bank Moelis in an interview with the Handelsblatt.

Cantor is one of the few who are at home in both the financial world and politics. The 60-year-old was the Republican majority leader in the US House of Representatives from 2011 to 2014. At the time, Democrat Barack Obama was President. And although Obama’s successor, Donald Trump, has faced multiple civil and criminal charges since his tenure, Cantor sees him as the most promising candidate.

“Donald Trump has huge grassroots support,” Cantor said. Other candidates would also try to position themselves. “But in competition with Donald Trump, it’s very difficult for them to really get noticed,” Cantor said.
