How to invest now with the three-thirds method

Dusseldorf After the initial shock of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, prices on the German stock market have climbed significantly again. Handelsblatt stock analyst Ulf Sommer still believes that the Dax will remain under more pressure than other indices due to geopolitical uncertainties.

In the current episode of “Handelsblatt Today”, Sommer explains how investors can behave in times of crisis and how they can use the three-thirds method to benefit from falling prices. He also reveals what options investors have with monthly savings plans and whether he believes that inflation rates will continue to rise given the energy price crisis.

Also: Handelsblatt China correspondent Dana Heide explains why China could cushion the economic consequences of the sanctions in addition to verbal support for Russia. However, China’s possibilities and will are limited: “China will not do this at any price,” says Heide.

She does not share political scientist Gerhard Mangott’s assessment that the war in Ukraine will degrade Russia to “China’s junior partner”: “Russia is not a willless victim who is being driven into China’s hands by the conflict.”

At the same time, concerns are growing around the world that China may feel encouraged by Russia’s actions in Ukraine to militarily subjugate the island nation of Taiwan. Dana Heide doesn’t believe that China is making its strategy on the Taiwan question dependent on the current war raging in Ukraine.

However, the People’s Republic will take a close look at how Europe and the USA react to the military escalation in Ukraine. “China knows very well that the US has a very different interest in Taiwan and would be much more involved if there were an invasion than it is now in Ukraine,” says the China correspondent.
