Dusseldorf, Berlin “Visions don’t cost anything,” Cengiz Ehliz once began a Facebook post. The entrepreneur took this as an incentive. One million merchants should be connected to its Wee cashback system by 2019. The aim is to have one billion active customers by 2023.

Well, Wee actually never had more than 600 active merchants, the number of customers with a cashback balance remained 999.9 million below the target. The umbrella holding company of the Wee Group in Switzerland has filed for bankruptcy, as have most of its subsidiaries.

Investors lost up to 130 million euros. A cryptocurrency founded by Ehliz is practically worthless. Wee owes the Bavarian tax office 1.4 million euros. And duped are numerous celebrities that Ehliz used to advertise his big plans.
