How the crisis overshadowed Joe Biden’s presidency

New York, Denver, London The situation was clear on Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s popular evening show. Russian President Vladimir Putin: a dangerous autocrat. But even worse, from a conservative point of view: Joe Biden, the hesitant US President. Its weak appearance made the Russian invasion of eastern Ukraine possible in the first place.

The criticism: “Biden’s softening has goaded Putin. That will cost human lives in Ukraine.” In the USA, on the other hand, the sanctions that have now been passed are likely to lead to serious problems, for example due to falling oil imports from Russia. America is dependent on energy. Carlson warned: “Nothing will stall our economy faster than a lack of supply of fossil raw materials.” The voters would notice that quickly – for example at the pump.
