How the Communist Party is expanding its influence in German corporations

Berlin German corporations in China lose part of their control over local business – in favor of the Communist Party. The reason for this are party cells, which are normally represented in German companies in the People’s Republic. The direct influence of these cells and their members increases. This emerges from company documents and insider information available to the Handelsblatt.

Accordingly, in at least one plant of a group that is listed in the leading German index Dax, KP party members decide on location issues, business models and personal details. There is a risk of a similar development in other local German companies.

The growing influence corresponds to the omnipotence claim of state and party leader Xi Jinping, who has just been confirmed for a third term. Even if the companies concerned deny any influence, the development is clear to experts.
