Many say that these systems cannot be trusted enough. He argues that we are under a great risk that we do not realize, especially in matters that can seriously change our lives. So much so that in the future these systems make independent decisions that could mean life and death for people, which frightens people.

The interest and fear of artificial intelligence has taken place in people’s lives for a long time. For example, in the past 50 years, an unlimited number of science fiction films have been made on this subject. What they have in common is that these systems get out of control one day or become an entity that can think like a human.

But unlike humans, at least today’s robots and intelligent systems lack a moral conscience. For this reason, they can only think about the commands that the developers who designed them told them to do. If they have to think, they can only be shadows of their creators.

For this reason, if an electronic device or software on ethical values ​​is produced by a single person, it will reflect his views. However, since these issues are highly subjective, they can create a problem for people who disagree.

How is the value of people calculated in the eyes of artificial intelligence?

Because AI systems are completely independent of emotions and hormones that affect people’s behavior, they can make logical decisions. For this reason, when people are evaluated and included in a certain order during a problem or crisis, the result may not satisfy people.

This can be seen as cruel by some people. For example, in a disaster scenario, he might prioritize a scientist in his family instead of saving a crying little child. Similarly, will an autonomous driving-assisted car with facial recognition systems go off the road because of a flat or malfunctioning tire, will it prefer to head towards the homeless person on its right or a doctor on its left?

At this point, if we fail to instill moral and ethical values ​​into machines, they may disappear completely. In medicine, in particular, support for artificial intelligence is growing to detect abnormalities in medical imaging and help doctors prioritize medical care.

But for now, doctors have the last word. However, if this situation changes in the future and our doctor and the artificial intelligence system do not agree on the diagnosis, who will say? Of course, there are also large groups of supporters who see this situation as we can prevent mistakes in medicine.

Use of artificial intelligence in wars

The existence of artificial intelligence-supported unmanned aerial vehicles and other machines also causes ethical discussions. For example, countries prefer to use such systems to protect their borders or to reduce their losses in wars. But can they tell if the person they encounter is a terrorist, an enemy soldier, or a woman trying to escape with her child?

Of course, according to claims, civilian deaths in such situations are greatly reduced thanks to artificial intelligence systems. However, since these systems are pieces of technology after all, they can fail at any time. For this reason, there must be someone who is constantly in control.

The most common view on this subject is that artificial intelligence can greatly ease our lives and help us, but it can also cause problems that we cannot cope with. Therefore, these systems have to be designed with meticulous studies and undergo long-term tests before being put into use. In addition, we hope that there will always be a person who can press the shutdown button at the beginning.
