Berlin The consulting firm DWR eco comes to very clear conclusions: “Deep geothermal energy in Germany has the potential to cover more than a quarter of Germany’s total heating requirements and to replace 60 percent of Russian gas imports in the medium term,” says an as yet unpublished study by DWR eco. which is available to the Handelsblatt. DWR eco advises companies from the energy sector on renewable energies.

The use of geothermal energy could thus make a very significant contribution to creating the heat transition. The political goal of climate neutrality by 2045 makes it necessary to completely convert the heating and cooling of buildings and the heating of hot water. In addition, the gas supply crisis triggered by the Ukraine war is forcing us to act quickly.
