Manufacturers of chemical and metal products have repeatedly informed their investors in ad hoc reports over the past few weeks that their business results for the first three months of the year will be well above forecasts.

The manufacturers of important basic products such as plastics, steel or adhesives, which are used in many sectors of the manufacturing industry, can hardly save themselves from orders at the moment. Materials are scarce almost everywhere. 75 percent of companies in the manufacturing industry are currently reporting bottlenecks in primary products, the Ifo Institute reported on Friday as the result of a recent survey.
