Hope for smaller US interest rate hikes – Dax starts positive

Dusseldorf Hopes for smaller interest rate hikes in the USA drove the German stock market on Monday: In the first few minutes of trading, the leading German index Dax rose to 12,930 points.

In the late morning, however, growth flattened out significantly. The Dax is up 0.5 percent at 12,794 points. The MDax for medium-sized listed companies rose a good 0.2 percent to 22,977 points.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday evening that some Federal Reserve officials wanted to downshift interest rates. In addition, the international financial markets are relieved that Boris Johnson will not run for the post of British Prime Minister after all.
