Demand for heat pumps has been booming since there were concerns that gas could become scarce.

Dusseldorf Heat pump sales in Germany rose rapidly in the first three months of this year. According to the Federal Association of the German Heating Industry (BDH) and the Federal Association of Heat Pumps (BWP), it was 91,500 heating heat pumps in the first quarter of 2023.

There are also 16,500 heat pumps to generate hot water. In the same quarter of the previous year, the number of heating heat pumps sold was 43,500. This means growth is 110 percent.

In view of the figures, the German Heat Pump Association is confident that the political target of installing 500,000 heat pumps per year from 2024 can be achieved. For comparison: In 2022 as a whole, sales were 236,000 units.

The quarterly figures cannot simply be multiplied by four to arrive at a possible year. According to an industry insider, the fourth quarter of the year is usually the strongest. However, it is conceivable that a total of 400,000 will be reached this year.
