This, combined with media reports of the game’s troubled development, has led to speculation that the game may be the latest victim of restructuring efforts by Aspyr’s parent company, Embracer Group.
Now, Sony has released a statement in response to the removal of social media posts about the KotOR remake, stating that this is due to the expiration of music licenses.
A Sony spokesperson said, “As part of our normal business, we delist assets containing licensed music when the license expires.” said.
As journalist Stephen Totilo points out, it’s a bit confusing why an upcoming game’s soundtrack has expired. Especially since the music in the trailer is from the Star Wars movies and has not been licensed externally.
A search of PlayStation’s YouTube account shows that many Star Wars game trailers from at least a decade ago are still listed as publicly available.
The Star Wars: KotOR remake has reportedly been plagued with problems for the past few years. Bloomberg claimed last summer that Aspyr had stopped working on the game and that its future was uncertain.
