League of Legends players took a stance against the rule changes that would reduce the North American Challenger League, which was launched just last year, from 16 teams to seven. Arguing that these changes are necessary to ensure that the North American leagues remain sustainable, Riot Games also made important statements about the future of the LCS. Meeting with the LCSPA, Riot stated that leagues could be cancelled.
Riot, which turned down the LCS teams’ annual request for $300,000 per team, does not believe these numbers are economically sustainable.
