new York David Solomon always maintained that the work-from-home era was just a “deviation” from normal. The CEO of Goldman Sachs emphasized that last year. Now this is to be officially ended. The Wall Street house will drop most Covid restrictions and order employees to return to US offices full-time starting September 6, US media reports. “Vaccines, improved treatment methods and tests have led to a significant reduction in the risk of serious illness,” said a statement to employees.
In the future, vaccination certificates will no longer be required to enter the offices. The only exception here, however, is the headquarters in New York, where the city government prescribes certain rules that the bank must adhere to. Tests previously provided by Goldman will be abolished. The mask requirement should also be lifted.
Other banks are also ending their restrictions. Morgan Stanley announced that it would also abolish tests. Employees should no longer be notified in the future if they have had contact with a person who has tested positive. The disease authority CDC had recently abolished the requirement to go into quarantine in the event of contact.
Corporate America is currently trying to find the right balance. According to CNBC, employees of the tech group Alphabet have complained about the many warnings that Google’s parent company sends out after contact with colleagues who have tested positive. At the same time, unvaccinated people are still not allowed to come back to the office.
