Dusseldorf In the year 2021, which was shaped by the pandemic, the salaries of managing directors of larger GmbHs rose sharply in many cases. For companies with annual sales of more than 25 million euros, the remuneration of the bosses increased by up to 14 percent. This is shown by a salary study that lists the payment of management in 60 industries in detail and is available exclusively to the Handelsblatt.
In the case of smaller limited liability companies – the most widespread type of company in Germany – the bosses have held back on salary increases. For example, remuneration for companies with sales of up to 25 million euros only increased by between two and three percent. This roughly corresponds to the general wage increases in Germany.
The average of all GmbHs considered shows: The typical GmbH managing director had an annual salary of around 180,000 euros in 2021 and worked 48 hours a week. He is 52 years old and prefers a BMW as a company car.
