German fintechs are again attracting increasing interest from venture capitalists

Frankfurt German fintechs are currently attracting significantly more interest from venture capitalists. In the first quarter of this year, venture capital investors (VC investors) invested a total of 235 million euros in local financial start-ups, according to figures from the analysis company Barkow Consulting. Although that is almost 46 percent less than in the same quarter of the previous year, it is almost three times as much as in the fourth quarter of last year.

Max Flötotto, partner at the management consultancy McKinsey, says: “We are currently seeing a real recovery in Germany.” Peter Barkow from the analysis company of the same name is also observing this development. “Following the near-total failure in the fourth quarter of 2022, the German fintech VC market revived in the first quarter.”
