Abu Dhabi Germany is intensifying its cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in hydrogen research. Five German companies have signed corresponding declarations of intent, said Economics Minister Robert Habeck on Monday during his visit to the Emirates.

In addition to the delivery of gas and oil as a replacement for Russian imports, the Green politician is also counting on future deliveries of hydrogen during his visit to the Arabian Peninsula, which should primarily replace natural gas in the medium term.

On Sunday he had already agreed an energy partnership with Qatar. The sunny peninsula has great potential to generate hydrogen with the help of solar systems without producing greenhouse gases. Habeck is accompanied on his trip by a large business delegation.
