The famous US defense and aerospace company, General Dynamics, introduced the new generation AbramsX tank just before the US Army Annual Meeting and Exhibition, which it will attend in the coming days. So what does it promise?
While the AbramsX main battle tank is heavier than the original Abrams, it remains lighter than its predecessors. In addition, it offers some innovations on both the operational and technical side, as it includes specially developed hybrid engine technology.

For example, it is stated that the AbramsX tank has 50 percent less fuel consumption thanks to the hybrid engine consisting of a combination of electricity and internal combustion. Considering that it has been lightened compared to its predecessors, we see that it has gone one step further in terms of both operational cost and range.
The tank, which contains the hybrid technology that we are used to seeing in some PHEV cars, does not start the internal combustion engine unless it is necessary. In this way, it is stated that the feature called silent monitoring feature has emerged.
We see that many new generation weapon systems and advanced sensors have been added to the main body of the tank, especially the 30 mm Kongsberg Protector RS6 RCWS. There is even a new generation very long-range optoelectronic observation and attack system PASEO developed for armored combat by the French defense company Safran Group.
In addition, it is stated that the target deviation of the 120 mm artillery system used has been significantly reduced. Additionally, the Trophy Active Protection System will also be used in this tank. In other words, it brings many innovations in terms of both self-defense, attack and awareness.
