Sam Bankman-Fried, founder and CEO of the FTX exchange, said that in 2022, a clearer regulatory environment will be achieved in the US and other countries in the crypto space. In an interview with Bloomberg, the famous CEO discussed the crypto space, regulation, NFTs, the crypto game, the metaverse, and FTX’s strategies to increase brand awareness.
During the interview, Bankman-Fried stated that the cryptocurrency industry has managed to gain the attention and respect of regulators around the world. He described the political debate on cryptocurrencies involving regulators (SEC, CFTC) as a sign of progress for the industry. Moreover, he said that in 2022, regulations regarding cryptocurrencies will be more intense.
How does government involvement help the crypto space?
Speaking as the CEO of a government-aligned crypto exchange, Bankman Fried said he believes government involvement will help boost cryptocurrency trading and significantly facilitate the entry of large investors.
“I am optimistic about the price of Bitcoin. Actually, another thing I’m optimistic about is regulatory clarity in the US and globally. I think this will contribute to institutional adoption.”
Mike Novogratz, CEO of Galaxy Digital, also supports this view. He thinks well-crafted crypto policy implementations can be beneficial to fuel a new bull run, foster a more robust industry, and attract institutional capital.
NFTs, Stablecoins, Metaverse in 2022
Besides, Bankman-Fried added that many financial institutions are open to exploring the crypto space and blockchain in 2022. He also stated that 2022 will mark the beginning of a significant breakthrough in stablecoin regulations.
He also talked about the potential of NFT in the gaming industry and the expansion of the metadatabase. He believes it will take years for a viable crypto gaming industry to grow, but acknowledges its potential to become a major global industry.
“I think digital assets will start popping up more frequently in the metaverse. I hope that happens in the next few years.”
