Berlin When it is clear that Celina-Marie Krimpelbein cannot continue as a competitive swimmer – a shoulder injury prevents it – she has to stop training. “Then I only swam five times a week,” says the 24-year-old. Before that it was eight or nine times, she spent 20 hours a week in the water – throughout her youth.

You have to know this about Celina-Marie Krimpelbein to understand why she, who actually studies foreign language linguistics, founded her own company in her early 20s. Why she works more than 40 hours a week, why she puts all her savings, which were intended for a trip around the world after her master’s degree, into a niche project that, at first glance, doesn’t exactly cry out to inspire masses of people. So why is she now selling swimsuits and bikinis with the claim that they fit well, are sustainable and look stylish.
