Formula 1 overtaking king – Vettel continues on course for the title after US races – Formula 1

Guided tour expanded – point taken!

At the US race in Austin (Texas), Sebastian Vettel (34) had to start from almost the very rear because of an engine penalty. And still got the maximum out of it.

The Aston Martin driver started from 18th place and showed why he can call himself a four-time world champion. Confident and ice cold, he made up ground and finished tenth in the end. “At least we got a point. Thank you guys. Howdy ”, he radioed to his team after crossing the target.

Much more important: Vettel overtook six competitors on his way forward on the track. Means: He gets six points credited to his overtaking maneuver account. There he continues to lead the ranking with 102 points ahead of Fernando Alonso (100 points).

At the end of the season, the winner will be presented with the “Crypto.com Overtake Award”.

Would this victory mean anything to him? Vettel on BILD request: “Nope.”

When asked whether the overhauls are at least fun and arouse his racing spirit, he replies: “Yes. But whether you count them now or not … Ideally, you won’t overtake anyone all year round and win every race. “

Vettel continues: “Of course it’s fun to overtake and it’s not always easy. When it succeeds, it feels good. You also whip yourself in the car. ”

So Vettel continues on course for the title. Even if he doesn’t really care.
